Stores
Every price, name and number in this guide is invented test data, shown only as an example — any resemblance to real companies is coincidental. Real figures appear once you register.
Stores connects your shop to your catalogue. Your products, prices and stock go to the shop. Paid orders from the shop come back here and are placed for you.
Stores opens account by account. If it shows Soon in your menu, it is not open for your account yet. To connect a shop, you need the Integrations permission.
Connecting a shop
- Select Connect a shop.
- Type: choose API for your own system, or Shopify. A WooCommerce shop connects from our plugin in WordPress, see WooCommerce. For Shopify, see Shopify.
- Basics: a name, the currency of your shop and the main language of product names. Leave Stock countries empty to sell from every warehouse. Languages to send are all ticked: Shopify and your own system get products in each of them. Untick the ones you do not need.
- Products: Hand-picked is chosen at first. You then add what to sell on the Products tab. Choose All products to sell everything you can buy from us. In a WooCommerce shop you can also choose Already in my shop: only our products whose SKU your shop already has. In a WooCommerce shop every product linked with us becomes ours: we set its stock, and its orders come to us. Also choose what we may write in your shop.
- Prices: with Automatic, you set sell prices here and we send them. With Manual, prices stay in your shop. Include the fulfilment fee in prices adds each product's fulfilment fee to the price in your shop. Your own prices stay as you set them. On an existing store, change it in Settings. We ask first, because every price in the shop changes. Price ending raises the price in your shop to the next one ending in 0, 5 or 9, for example 5.66 to 5.70, 5.75 or 5.69. It never lowers a price. It is off at first. Turn on Add an invoice to every parcel only if your buyer needs one from you in the parcel. It is off until you turn it on. It is not an official tax document, only an extra document that goes with the order.
- Orders: choose whether orders are placed automatically, and how they are paid.
- Connection: the API key for your system and, if it wants them, the addresses we send events to. For Shopify, the keys of your own app and your shop's address.
- Select Create.
WooCommerce
A WooCommerce shop connects only from our plugin in WordPress, not from the Connect a shop form. The plugin also adds live delivery prices, pickup points and parcels to your shop's checkout.
Our plugin is not in the WordPress plugin directory yet. Until then, we send it to you in Tickets when you ask for it, as the first step says.
When it is in the directory, we tell you, and the store page asks you to update the plugin. In WordPress, open Plugins and update it. The update replaces the plugin you installed from the file, and the shop stays connected.
- In Stores, select Connect a shop, choose WooCommerce and select Request the plugin. We send it to you in Tickets.
- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. Upload the file and activate the plugin.
- Open WooCommerce → Settings, the plugin's tab, and select Connect.
- Sign in here if asked. Under Connect this shop to, choose A new store and fill in its settings, or choose one of your stores. Select Connect.
- You are back in WordPress, and the tab shows Connected. The store appears here, under Stores.
You set up payment methods in WooCommerce yourself. We only manage cash on delivery for our products.
The plugin makes the shop's access keys itself. You do not copy any keys.
At checkout, the buyer sees a parcel for each warehouse, chooses a delivery method for each one and pays for each one. Pickup points are listed only when the parcel fits them. Cash on delivery is offered only for one parcel and only when the cart has no products of your own.
You can connect the shop to any of your WooCommerce stores. A new store is offered only while you are under your store limit. If the store you choose served another shop, it moves to this one. Its settings, prices and order history stay. Its products are sent to this shop again, and the old shop no longer gets them.
To connect again, select Connect in the plugin. The shop's existing store is chosen for you. The store's Settings have no keys to change.
Turning the plugin off or selecting Disconnect in it disconnects your shop completely. Our products stay on sale with their prices, and the checkout offers your own delivery methods. New orders no longer reach us, so ship them yourself or take the products off sale. The store here is paused. To connect again, turn the plugin on and select Connect. Deleting the plugin also deletes the shop's access keys.
Deleting the store here disconnects the shop in the same way. The plugin shows why in WordPress. Connecting again creates a new store.
Shopify
For now, you connect a Shopify shop with an app of your own. Our app comes to the Shopify App Store very soon.
What works now:
- Products, prices and stock reach your shop.
- Couriers to the door, with your prices or ours.
- Paid orders come here, and we place them. The tracking number goes back to Shopify.
- The invoice for your buyer, when you turn it on.
A new product goes on sale in the Online Store sales channel once it has a sell price. Until then, it waits in Shopify as a draft. Products your shop already had keep their sales channels.
Countries we deliver to are added to a Shopify market for you, so buyers there can buy. Your own markets stay as they are.
Our products are stocked in separate locations, which we create in your shop: one for each warehouse, named after it. Your own locations and products stay as they are.
If a cart has products from two warehouses, it ships in two parcels. Shopify charges your customer for each parcel, and each parcel gets its own tracking number.
Connecting with your own app
In Stores, select Connect a shop and choose Shopify. The wizard asks for the keys of an app you create in Shopify:
- In your Shopify admin, open Settings → Apps → Develop apps and select Build apps in Dev Dashboard. An app made another way may not get your orders.
- Select Create app. If a menu opens, choose Create manually.
- Fill in the form. Then select Create app and Release.
- App name:
Click2Drop app - App URL: Your shop address, like https://my-shop.myshopify.com. It is in Shopify under Settings → Domains.
- Scopes:
read_products,write_products,read_inventory,write_inventory,read_locations,write_locations,read_orders,write_orders,read_fulfillments,write_fulfillments,read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,read_shipping,write_shipping,read_publications,write_publications,read_markets,write_markets,read_files,write_files,read_locales,read_translations,write_translations
- App name:
- Open the Overview tab and select Install app. Choose your shop and select Install again.
- On Overview, copy the Client ID and Client secret into the connection form. Enter your shop's .myshopify.com address there too.
You set up payment methods in Shopify yourself. We do not set up any.
If you change the scopes later, release a new version of the app and install it again.
Turn off cash on delivery in Shopify for our products for now. An order paid on delivery waits in Inbox for your decision.
Very soon: our app in the Shopify App Store
Our app is in Shopify's review. With it, you also get:
- Connecting in one click, without keys.
- Parcel lockers and pickup points. The buyer chooses the point at checkout. On plans without calculated shipping rates, they choose it after payment.
- Cash on delivery at checkout, only where we can collect it, with the fee you choose.
- Checkout rules: our products ship only with our couriers.
- Our block on the order page in your Shopify admin. It shows the parcels and their tracking. There you can send an order again, choose a pickup point or request a cancellation.
- The pickup point, tracking and invoice for your buyer after payment and in the shipping emails.
- A cart notice when a cart mixes our products with yours.
When the app is published, the store page shows Install our app. The store moves to it by itself. Your settings, prices and orders stay.
Your own system (API)
Before you start, read the developer documentation. It describes every request and event.
- At the Connection step, create the API key. Choose the Permissions your system needs.
- Under Webhooks, select Add an address for each address in your system that should receive events. You can skip this.
- Select Create. Save the key and the webhook secrets right away. They are shown only once.
- If you lose the key, open the store's API tab and select Replace. The old key stops working.
The store page
- Overview: what needs your attention, how the store is set up, and the connection. In WooCommerce with our plugin, the block On sale, but buyers cannot order may appear. It lists products on sale in your shop as ours that are not on the Products tab. Buyers get no delivery for them. Add them with Add products, or take them off sale in WooCommerce.
- Products: what is listed in your shop. Set sell prices, pause or remove products.
- Delivery: the delivery methods your shop offers, and their prices. A new store offers none at first. Switch on the methods you want. Search finds a method by courier name. With Stock countries chosen, only couriers that ship from those countries are listed. In Shopify and in WooCommerce with our plugin, a method without your price uses our tariff. In WooCommerce without the plugin, set a price for each method. In Shopify, parcel lockers come with our app, very soon. The line above the table shows whether your shop already has the latest delivery settings. Changes to our prices reach your shop by themselves.
- Orders: the orders your shop's orders became. Under our number is your shop's own number, for example #1007. Under the total is what your buyer paid, in their currency. Select an order to open it. The way back leads to this tab.
- Inbox: orders from your shop that are not placed yet. Needs attention means we could not place it. Fix the cause and select Try again, or select Reject. An order that only waits for your approval has Approve. To handle several orders at once, tick them and choose the action for all of them. If the courier your buyer chose cannot take a parcel, agree on another with the buyer and select Choose courier. A placed order moves to Orders. A rejected order is cancelled in your shop too. You decide about the refund there.
- API: keys and event addresses, for API stores.
At the top of the page, Settings opens every store setting and the connection keys. A paused store shows Resume there instead.
The other actions are under More. Send everything again sends all products, prices and stock again. Pause stops everything going in and out. Activity lists every sync and how it ended.
Orders from your shop
We place an order when your shop marks it as paid, or when it is cash on delivery. After shipping, the tracking number goes back to your shop. An order cancelled in the shop is cancelled here, while that is still possible. Later, we send a cancellation request to our team for you, and the answer comes in Tickets.
A placed order cannot be changed. Changes made in your shop after that do not reach us. Before that, while the order is in Inbox, we use the latest address and phone from your shop when you select Try again. To stop a placed order, cancel it while that is still possible.
We do not tell your shop about returns, and we do not change the order's status there. Handle the buyer's return and refund in your shop. Tell us about the return on the order here, see Announcing a return. Your own system (API) gets return events through its webhooks.
From Shopify, only our products come here. Your own products in the same order stay with you. A Shopify test order waits for your approval.
If you change the currency in Shopify, the store turns red and we tell you in the panel and by email. Prices and delivery wait until the currencies match again.
To send products in more languages, switch those languages on in Shopify:
- In Shopify, go to Settings → Languages and select Add language.
- Select Publish for the new language.
- Here, open the store and select Test connection. We then send every product again, with the translation.
With Add an invoice to every parcel on, the invoice for the buyer is added to the Shopify order as a file. To send it to the buyer, add {{ order.metafields.ds_platform.invoice.value.url }} to your shipping confirmation email in Shopify.
